New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz released its 2019-2020 men's basketball schedule Friday.
The Hawks improved its overall record from their previous season, but fell just short of solidifying their first playoff appearance since 2013 last year. They hope they can build off that success and finally clinch a coveted postseason berth in 2020 with the program on the rise in its third year under head coach
Keith Kenney.
The Hawks open up the year in the Hawk Center Nov. 9 vs. Baruch College. SUNY New Paltz is looking to avenge last season's loss against the Bearcast after falling, 76-60 in its matchup with them last year.
Following their home opener, the Hawks hit the road for a three-game road trip against Farmingdale State, The Sage Colleges and SUNY Maritime before heading into their first conference action of the season where they open up State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play at home against SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh State Dec. 6 and 7, respectively.
After competing in the Cruzin Classic in Florida Dec. 21 and 22, facing Randolph College and Wartburg, respectively, SUNY New Paltz head back to the Hawk Center to kick-off its second-half of its schedule, playing SUNY Oneonta Jan. 11, Oswego State Jan. 14 and then a road trip to SUNY Geneseo and The College at Brockport Jan. 17 and 18, respectively. The Hawks then play the rest of their SUNYAC schedule before concluding the regular season on the road against the Cardinals and Bears Feb 21 and 22.
The first round of the SUNYAC Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 25 on the third and fourth seeds home court, respectively. The overall top seed will host the semifinal and championship games, which is scheduled for Feb. 28 and Feb. 29, respectively.
