GAME PREVIEW: SUNY New Paltz Men's Soccer Looking for Two Wins at Utica College Invitational

| By:
After bringing home a Drew Fall Festival trophy last weekend, the State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team will try and collect another tournament win when it enters the Utica College Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

The Hawks (2-0) will take on SUNY Cobleskill Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Morrisville State Sunday at 2:30 p.m., looking to extend their perfect record to 4-0.

In SUNY New Paltz's opening weekend it battled through two 1-0 shutouts against Stockton University and the hosting Rangers. James Maltes scored the Hawks' go-ahead goal against the Ospreys in the 82nd minute to push his team to victory. Against Drew, Luke Dole headed in the game's only goal in the 12th minute to help SUNY New Paltz to victory. Dole was later named Tournament Defensive MVP and also took PrestoSports SUNYAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors as well.

The Hawks will see the Fighting Tigers (2-1) in their first matchup. The latter is coming off a tight, 2-1 loss against Lehman College, which SUNY New Paltz defeated last season out on the South Turf in a 5-0 rout.  Cobleskill opened up its season, however, with a 3-1 win over Hunter College.

After taking on the Fighting Tigers, SUNY New Paltz is set to face the Mustangs for the third time in its history and first since 2008 when the Hawks won, 3-0.

Morrisville State has yet to win a game in 2019, losing its season opener against Oswego State, 1-0 and then suffering a tough 5-0 defeat against Ithaca College.

Heading into the weekend, Dole, a 6'4 senior center back, leads SUNY New Paltz with three points (one goal, one assist), followed by Maltes and Kevin Doorley, who recorded two assists in two games.

Marc DePasquale has played every minute in goal for the Hawks and faced 22 shots with nine saves. He will look to continue his clean sheet over the weekend.
