SUNY New Paltz Men's Basketball Game Preview: Hawks host Cortland in Home Finale on Senior Night

| By:
The State University of New York at New Paltz closes out its 2019-2020 season in the Hawk Center Tuesday against SUNY Cortland before finishing its regular season on the road against Plattsburgh and Potsdam. The Hawks (5-17 overall, 1-14 SUNYAC) will honor their four seniors, Tristan Wissemann, Scott Reisert, Matt English and Nick Arthur in their home finale prior to the game for their dedication and commitment to the team over the past four seasons.

Wissemann most recently made Hawks history, becoming the 20th member and first since 2012 to join the illustrious 1,000-point club after scoring 21 points against Buffalo State Saturday. The senior forward is 15 points shy of jumping to 15th on the program's all-time scoring list.  He scored a team-high against the Bengals this past weekend after netting 12 points against Fredonia the night before, while combining to shoot 42 percent on the weekend. He currently paces SUNY New Paltz's offense with 14.4 points per game, to go along with five rebounds and about two assists a contest.

Isaiah Bien-Aise was the catalyst for the Hawks the first time they faced the Red Dragons on the road. He and Wissemann led a second half comeback that saw SUNY New Paltz overcome a 21-point deficit with four minutes remaining in regulation to cut the score to six with 20 seconds left. The Hawks couldn't complete the comeback, however, unable to hit on timely shots in the final few possessions and ultimately suffered a 90-79 loss. Bien-Aise finished with a career-high 26 points after making 10-of-17 attempts, while Wissemann followed with 15.

Austin Grunder led the Red Dragons (15-7, 9-6) in the win, scoring 34 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field with 17 rebounds. Cortland had help off the bench with Jake DiSanto and Ryan Schmadel combining for 27 points in 44 minutes. Grunder leads the team with 22 points per game on the year, while Eric Edwards and Schmadel follows with 16.6 and 13.4 points per game, respectively.

Behind Wissemann, Passaretti follows offensively with 11.1 points per game, while also averaging a team-best 4.1 assists a contest. Reisert has averaged nearly nine points and seven rebounds a contest, while tying for a team-high 28 blocks on the year with Arthur.

SUNY New Paltz is set to tip-off against the Red Dragons Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
