Anthony Amoroso entered the State University of New York as a freshman in 2016 and quickly earned time in the Hawks' rotation. He helped SUNY New Paltz to a playoff berth in 2018 and through three-plus seasons with the team has won six games in 66 innings pitched.

Amoroso talked about his experience thus far as a Hawk and why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.Â

"Choosing New Paltz for me, was very easy. It was only 45 minutes away from my hometown. It was a great academic school, had the major I was looking for and was an accredited business school. But not only were all these things great for me, but the moment I stepped on campus it felt like home. The campus wasn't too big to the point where it was overwhelming and it wasn't too small either. It was just the right size. Everything was in walking distance and the classrooms/buildings were in good condition. The area itself is a cool little town with everything you could possibly need in a two-mile radius it seemed like. The food was great when I first tried it (on campus and off campus). Being an athlete, what was important to me when choosing a school were these two questions: How are the facilities and does it feel like a family here? The athletic center has everything you need to become a good athlete and have fun while doing it. And the biggest thing was I felt accepted right away — the guys on the team, prior teams and other sports teams instantly made me feel as if I was part of them. To feel that comfortable at a new environment was all I needed. The coaches and faculty all look out for each other and are very approachable and more than willing to assist with anything you need. At that point what else do you really need? This was the school for me."
