Cortland, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its weekly player of the week winners for each affiliate sport with Hawks senior
Anthony Amoroso being named as the SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week.
Amoroso pitched in SUNY New Paltz's season opener Sunday against Skidmore to one of his best outings in his collegiate career. The fifth-year captain went six innings, giving up no runs and yielding just two hits and two walks, while striking out five batters in a 6-1 victory.
With a young bullpen, the Hawks relied on the veteran pitcher to go deep in the game and did so without allowing the Thoroughbreds to threaten at any point he was on the hill. He finished with a 0.00 ERA and a .67 WHIP with opposing batters hitting only .100 against him on Sunday.
Amoroso has some rest before his next outing, with SUNY New Paltz taking on SUNY Cortland in its first SUNYAC action of the season April 2.
