New Paltz, NY --- The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball schedule was released Wednesday with the team looking to improve upon its 7-18 finish during the 2019-20 season. The 2020-21 campaign was canceled due to COVID-19.Â
The Hawks begin the season Nov. 17, with their 7 p.m home opener against Farmingdale State. SUNY New Paltz faced the Rams during the 2019-20 campaign and lost a tough, 93-90 contest. The opener is followed two days later by the Hudson Valley Tournament, which will see the Hawks play at home against Vassar College at 8 p.m. before facing Bard College at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. Â
SUNY New Paltz will play three conference games prior to the Western Connecticut State Holiday Tournament (which runs December 29-30). It hosts SUNY Oneonta Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., and will be at SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Plattsburgh Dec. 3 and 4, respectively. The Hawks' 15 of their final 16 games will be against fellow SUNYAC schools, with the lone out of the conference contest coming against Williams College at home Jan. 25. The regular season draws to a close Saturday, Feb. 19 with a 4 p.m. home game against SUNY Plattsburgh.Â
The SUNYAC Tournament, where the team desires to be for the first time since 2013, will begin Feb. 22 for the quarterfinal round ,while the semifinal and championship games will be held Feb. 25 and 26, at the highest remaining seed.
The NCAA Tournament will be held March 4-19, with the Final Four and Championship being played from Fort Wayne, IN.Â
