Oswego, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz had a tough task of facing one of the best teams in the country in No. 22 hosting Oswego State Saturday.
After holding off Cortland Friday night for their eighth conference win of the season, the Hawks never gained momentum against the high-powered Lakers and suffered just their fourth SUNYAC loss of the season, 82-53.
SUNY New Paltz held the early lead at 6-3 and then again at 8-6, but a 15-0 run ignited by consecutive 3's from Oswego opened up the game to a double-digit difference. The Hawks offense was stifled for most of the first, scoring just 19 points while Oswego got out to a 27-point advantage at the break.

The Hawks were held to their lowest scoring total of the season, shooting 22-for-58 in the game. While the Lakers, who improved to a perfect 12-0 in the conference and 18-1 overall, knocked down 42.3 percent from the field including 16-for-35 in the first half.
Blondo was SUNY New Paltz's leading scorer with 10 points, followed by
Lucas Seyoum who added nine.
Isaiah Bien-Aise finished with a team-high six rebounds to go along with two assists, one steal and four points.
Next up for the Hawks is their last SUNYAC regular season road trip of the season, taking on Buffalo State and Fredonia Feb. 4 and 5, respectively.
