New Paltz, NY — On Saturday afternoon, the State University of New York at New Paltz's men's soccer team hosted the Bengals of Buffalo State for a SUNYAC match on South Turf Field.
After earning the 1-0 lead, the Hawks were 40 seconds away from three points but Buffalo State scored a last minute equalizer resulting in a 1-1 draw.
SUNY New Paltz got ahead about halfway through the first period after an assist from
Joseph DiPreta found
Tim Kane for a goal to move the score to 1-0. Defense on both sides of the ball were great at forcing turnovers and bad shots. The Hawks entered the half up by one after only taking five shots, while holdling the Bengals to just two.
Buffalo State kept the game close all the way through the second period when Hosa Omar found the back of the net in the 89th minute off an assist from teammate Moe Saif following a set piece just outside the edge of the box. The final whistle blew shortly after with a knotted score of 1-1.
