Binghamton, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team was on the road for the first time in over three weeks Thursday. The Hawks traveled to the Binghamton Tennis Center for the first of three SUNYAC matches being played on a centrally located neutral site. The Hawks claimed a 9-0 victory over the Knights of Geneseo to remain unbeaten in the SUNYAC.
The Hawks won five singles matches and two doubles matches. The remaining singles and doubles matches were walk over victories to complete the perfect score on the day.
"Although we won 9-0 this weas a tricky matchup," said SUNY New Paltz coach Rob Bruley. "Geneseo matched up well with our one doubles and one and two singles players, but Justine [Stanejko] and Onalee [Batcheller] found a way to win at one and two singles with Loretta [Donovan] and Justine at first doubles we managed to get our matches over the line."
The Hawks resume action Friday when they face Fredonia at noon. The Blue Devils will be the second in a trio of SUNYAC matches being played at the Binghamton Tennis Center for SUNY New Paltz.
