SUNY New Paltz Women's Soccer Releases 2022 Schedule

New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz released its 2022 women's soccer schedule Wednesday. 

After having their first winning season since 2012, which placed them fourth in the SUNYAC, the Hawks are looking to display their talents and build on a successful season. 

SUNY New Paltz will kick off its 2022 campaign away at Russell Sage College with its last matchup ending with the Hawks and the Gators tying, 1-1 in double overtime. The team then has its first home game of the season on Sept. 3 against RPI, the Hawks will look to avenge last season's 2-0 loss to the Engineers.Womens Soccer Schedule Graphic Siena

SUNY New Paltz will begin SUNYAC play on the road at SUNY Potsdam on Sept. 17, which the Hawks bested in their last matchup with a score of 2-0. Then on Sept. 21 they will have their first SUNYAC home game against SUNY Plattsburgh. The Cardinals were the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC conference and made it to the conference semifinals. In their last matchup the Hawks won 2-1, making it their first win against the Cardinals since 2014. On Sept 28, SUNY New Paltz will travel away to SUNY Oneonta, which in their last meeting the Hawks won 1-0. That win was their first over the Red Dragons since 2011. Next up, they will go against Buffalo State on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. In their last game the Hawks won thanks to a golden goal by Katie Buquicchio

The next opponent for SUNY New Paltz will be the reigning SUNYAC Champions SUNY Geneseo, which also made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Hawks and the Knights are scheduled to play on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at home on the South Turf. SUNY New Paltz then concludes its regular season against SUNY Cortland and SUNY Brockport on Oct. 12 and Oct. 15, respectively. The Red Dragons made it to the 2021 SUNYAC Championship with a record of 10-5-3. The final game of the season will be on Oct. 22 at home on the South Turf Field against Oswego State, which the Hawks bested 2-1 in overtime last season.

The first round of the SUNYAC Tournament begins on Oct. 29 at the third and fourth seeded teams' fields, with the semifinals and the finals being held at the highest seeded field on Nov. 2 and Nov. 5, respectively.
