New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team released its 2022-23 schedule Thursday.
 
Coming off its best basketball season in two decades, the Hawks men's basketball team looks to continue to raise the bar in 2022-23.
 
SUNY New Paltz opens its season at home against the United States Merchant Marine Academy Nov. 8. The Mariners are one of three 2022-23 opponents who saw postseason action last season. Traveling to Saratoga Springs on Nov. 11, the Hawks face Skidmore College, before participating in the second annual Hudson Valley Tournament Nov. 18 and 19, which includes Vassar College, Bard College and Mount Saint Mary College. The Hawks close out November opening their SUNYAC account with an away game against Catskill Cup adversary Oneonta. 
 
The first weekend of December sees SUNY New Paltz host Potsdam Dec. 2 and Plattsburgh Dec. 3 in the Hawk Center. The Hawks swept the Cardinals last season, but the Bears were the only program to win both games over SUNY New Paltz. The Hawks continue SUNYAC play the following weekend, as they're off to Western New York meeting Fredonia and Buffalo State Dec. 9 and 10. After a two week break, they play in the Eastern Connecticut University Holiday Tournament Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.
 
SUNY New Paltz opens the New Year at home, hosting Oneonta Jan. 7, before heading west again to take on The College at Brockport Jan. 13 and Geneseo Jan. 14. Returning home Jan. 20, the Hawks will host the Red Dragons of Cortland who they defeated in the quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament in 2022. The weekend of Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, SUNY New Paltz will close out its regular season series at home against Buffalo State and Fredonia, respectively,
 
The Hawks are back on the road for their first weekend in February, visiting defending SUNYAC champions Oswego on Feb. 3. SUNY New Paltz spoiled the Lakers bid for a perfect conference season in 2021-22, defeating Oswego 64-63 in the Hawk Center. The following afternoon on Feb. 4, the Hawks travel to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons. Continuing on the road to Williamstown, MA, SUNY New Paltz meet the Ephs of Williams College for a non-conference matchup Feb. 7.
 
The Hawks return home to the Hawk Center to complete its regular season series against Geneseo Feb. 10 and Brockport Feb. 11 before rounding out their 2022-23 SUNYAC regular season on the road against Plattsburgh and Potsdam Feb. 17 and 18.

SUNY New Paltz hope to again be in the thick of the SUNYAC postseason, which begins with first round games Feb. 21. The semifinals and championship games are scheduled for Feb. 24 and 25, respectively, with the SUNYAC champion moving on to the NCAA Tournament first round on March 3.
