New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team was in action Friday, playing SUNY Oswego in a SUNYAC contest. The Hawks swept singles and won two of three doubles matches for a winning tally of eight to one.
"Another strong performance to back up Wednesday's conference win," said SUNY New Paltz coach Rob Bruley. "No. 1 and No. 2 doubles came out strong and won very convincingly, 8-0 and 8-1 respectively. Our debut pairing at No. 3 doubles lost a long and hard-fought match 8-6 in a tie breaker. Our single matches all started very strong with Justine Stanejko our freshmen at No. 1, carrying on her strong singles play and winning 6-0, 6-2. The rest of the single matches pretty much followed Justine's lead and completed a sweep in the other 5 singles matches."
The Hawks picked up their second SUNYAC win of the week as they prepare to face SUNY Cortland in a rematch of last year's SUNYAC semifinal.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Saturday at noon and will play host to SUNY Cortland on the North Tennis Courts.
