Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly winners Monday with Hawks senior back
Sam Moran earning her first career weekly conference honor as she was named as this week's SUNYAC field hockey defensive player of the week.
The senior from Manorville, NY had a historic week. She set a new single game program record with four defensive saves against No. 11 nationally ranked Kean on the road, helping the team nearly pull the upset over the Cougars in a tight, 2-1 loss. Moran's four defensive saves added to her career total of 10, which put her one defensive save away to be the program's all-time record holder and currently leads the team with five on the year.
In a 2-0 shutout win over Oswego Saturday, Moran once again played the full 60 minutes and helped SUNY New Paltz's defense limit the Lakers to just four shots on the day in what was the Hawks' four shutout of the season.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Tuesday, hosting RPI on North Turf Field at 4 p.m.
