New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz closed out its regular season schedule on a high Saturday on North Turf Field, as the Hawks battled through 80 minutes of action and a penalty shootout to earn a 3-2 win over visiting Vassar.

Sam Moran. The trio were once again crucial in the success of the team with each playing the full 80 minutes Saturday, as Woolley scored the opening goal to give her team a 1-0 lead in the first period.
The game was scoreless until the 14th minute with SUNY New Paltz earning a corner with less than a minute remaining in the quarter.
Miranda Britton inserted to
Rachel Tama who put a shot on frame with Woolley there to get a tip for the go-ahead goal, her third of the season.
The Brewers tied the game a minute into the second, but the Hawks quickly answered two minutes later, as
Amanda Quenneville assisted Tama for her 10th goal of the season to push the hosts back ahead, 2-1. The scoring continued though before the end of the half. Moran recorded her seventh defensive save of the season and extended her program record, but SUNY New Paltz struggled clearing the ball from in front of their goal and ultimately, Vassar took advantage and scored in the 26th minute to knot the game once more at 2-2.

Offense was limited in the second half with three total shots recorded between the two teams with Vassar holding he slight edge, 2-1. The Hawks managed four corners in the third but couldn't capitalize, however they upped their play in overtime, garnering six corners and four shots in the 20 minutes of extra time.
Ultimately, the two teams needed a shootout to determine the winner. Vassar missed their first two attempts to give SUNY New Paltz the edge, as
Angelina Regels and
Amanda Quenneville each made their 1-v-1's before Ackerman sealed the win for the Hawks on their final attempt. The Brewers missed their last opportunity and pushed the hosts to the 3-2 win.
Comiskey earned the win, as she played the full 80 minutes and shootout, totaling six saves. Tama led SUNY New Paltz with seven shots and ended with a goal and an assist, followed by Ackerman with five shots and Woolley with two, and the opening goal.
The win pushed the Hawks to 13-4 overall with Vassar dropping to 10-6. SUNY New Paltz enters postseason play Wednesday on a five-game winning streak and are 8-1 at home as they host No. 3 seed Geneseo in the SUNYAC Semifinal round on North Turf Field at 1 p.m.
