New Paltz, NY — For the second consecutive season, State University of New York at New Paltz guard/forward
Brianna Fitzgerald earned herself a spot on the D3Hoops All-Region team, announced Tuesday.
The junior from Dix Hills, NY elevated her game after a Region III Rookie of the Year campaign last season and became the program's second ever SUNYAC Player of the Year selection after a dominating second season. In turn, Fitzgerald was an easy selection onto First-Team joining Ithaca's Emily Dorn, Sage's Syrita Faraj, Rochester's Katie Titus and Merchant Marine's Lauren Hunter. Titus was awarded as the Region II Player of the Year.
Fitzgerald led SUNY New Paltz in virtually every statistical category, as the became the catalyst to a perfect 18-0 SUNYAC regular season and a trip into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She finished the year averaging nearly 16 points and seven rebounds per game, along with totaling 83 assists, 66 steals and 18 blocks — all team-bests. Her 460 points scored on the year ranked second most in single season program history and through just two seasons of competition, never missing a game, playing in 56 contests, Fitzgerald is just 165 points shy of joining the Hawks 1,000-point club.
