Brockport, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz fell to SUNY Brockport on the road Saturday, 13-9.
The Hawks played the Golden Eagles tight in the first half and held a 2-0 lead to start the game and held on to a 4-3 advantage after the first. Brockport answered with three-straight goals to begin the second quarter to take its first lead of the day, but
Kaitlyn Shaw and
Maddie Gillis put two in the back of the net in the final three minutes to knot the score at sixes at halftime.
The game was decided in the third quarter as the Golden Eagles opened up with a 3-0 run in the first five minutes to take a 9-6 lead before adding on another insurance goal with a minute left to create a 10-6 cushion.
Shaw fed
Shannon Brosnan to end the Brockport run with the two teams trading goals until quarter's end to finish the 13-9 result.
Shaw led the Hawks with four points on two goals and two assists with one ground ball, a caused turnover and a team-leading six draw controls.
Alyssa Indelicato followed with two goals and an assist, while
Maddie Gillis registered two goals with three ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
