SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Dominates Mount Saint Mary College in a 6-1 Victory

Newburgh, NY —The State University of New York at New Paltz took the pitch Wednesday night and dominated Mount Saint Mary College, defeating them 6-1.

The Hawks controlled the game from the start, shutting out the Knights for the entire first half, and putting up four goals. The game kicked off with an unassisted goal by Rachel Eisertin in the fifth minute after a free kick from SUNY New Paltz. Eisert took charge of the game again, taking the ball off a Knights throw in and getting down the pitch to put another shot in the back of the net, putting the Hawks up 2-0. Eisert capitalized once more, being able to possess the ball and assisted Alexis DeLeo in a low-shot goal before DeLeo went on to assist Kelly Licata for the Hawks' fourth goal of the game, and their last of the first half, making the score 4-0.

The Knights needed to make a move and were able to get a goal in within the first minute of the second half. The Hawks would not be surprised again, and Mount Saint Mary was only able to get one more shot off the entire half. SUNY New Paltz, however, was very successful on the offensive front later in the half. Freshman Jillian John gained her first career assist on a pass deep into the 18-yard box which was finished by Addison Weiner. Freshman Ashley O'Hara also added to her stat line, putting in her first career goal late in the game, assisted by Ally Donovan. The game would conclude 6-1, and the Hawks came out on top.

Besides their offensive dominance, the Hawks' defense was able to keep the Knights to one goal and two shots, and goalkeeper Maddie Franklin gathered a save.

The Hawks will go on the road to face Manhattanville on their home turf Saturday at 1 p.m.
