Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly winners Monday with Hawks junior
Christian Micheli named as the men's soccer defensive player of the week.
Micheli earned his first career weekly honor after earning two shutout victories on the week. He played one of his best games of his career on the road at Vassar Wednesday, making a handful of incredible stops to preserve what was a 0-0 stalemate through 85-plus minutes and finished the afternoon with six saves in 90 minutes of action. He then helped in another shutout win Saturday against hosting Skidmore College, compiling four saves in more than 81 minutes to tally a perfect save percentage.
On the year, Micheli has totaled 13 saves thus far with a miniscule .35 goals-against-average with a healthy save percentage of .867 on 35 shots faced.
Micheli looks to clinch another shutout Wednesday as SUNY New Paltz enters SUNYAC play on the road against No. 13 SUNY Oneonta.
