Buffalo, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz went on the road and earned its first SUNYAC win of the season Saturday after defeating hosting Buffalo State, 2-0.
 
The game was evenly played in the box score, as both teams totaled seven shots on frame with the Bengals holding the slight edge in total shots, 15-14, but totaled 10 corners in the game to just five for the Hawks.
 
Joseph DiPreta gave SUNY New Paltz the opening 1-0 lead after Buffalo State was given a yellow card on a foul in the box. DiPreta buried the penalty to notch his fourth of the season. The Hawks added on in the second half following a free kick with David Acker assisting Alex Wyant in the 49th minute for his first goal of the season.
 
DiPreta led the way offensively with four shots, two of which were on goal in 80 minutes played, followed by Thomas O'Neill with two in 34 minutes off the bench. Christian Micheli secured his fifth shutout of the season after totaling seven saves in the win.
 
SUNY New Paltz is back home after a four-game road trip, as it hosts SUNY Plattsburgh on South Turf Field Wednesday at 4 p.m.
