SUNY New Paltz Women's Soccer Has Record Performance in 9-0 Shutout Over Buffalo State

Treble Sets Record For Goals and Points to Lead Hawks in Win

New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz opened up SUNYAC play in highlight fashion, tying a program record for goals scored in a 9-0 shutout win over Buffalo State Saturday on South Turf Field.

The Hawks had a dominating performance from the jump on Saturday for their opening conference game versus Buffalo State. Gaby Treble had a record-breaking day scoring the first goal of the game in less than 24 seconds. Mia Baldinger won the ball back off the opening kickoff and played a ball into the corner where Treble buried her first opportunity.

Seven minutes later, Treble found the back of the net again putting the Hawks up 2-0 and they never looked back. The Oyster Bay native made it a first half hat trick when she put away the perfect ball played by Rachel Eistert. The Bengals back line really struggled with the speed of the Hawks attacking forwards who continuously were getting in behind and finishing their opportunities. Rachel Eistert was the next one to cash in finishing back-to-back goals less than a minute apart. Erin Savarese and Alexis DeLeo each tallied an assist.

SUNY New Paltz had a very efficient first 15 minutes of the game, capitalizing on five of their eight shots. Licata made an immediate impact after being subbed in scoring the sixth goal of the game and her third of the season. The Hawks continued to pour on the pressure in the second half. Treble was about to add another tally to her goal column when she was taken down by the last defender after another great ball was played over the top. She didn't let that slow her down when she finished her next opportunity to set a new program record for points and goals scored in a game. Brooke Kelleher added her name to the box score, when she was streaking up the sideline and played a ball across the top of the box for an oncoming Paris Burke who finished a one timer into the corner. DeLeo capped off the scoring in the 73rd minute to cement the Hawks monumental day tying the most ever goals scored in a game.

Treble solidified herself in the record books becoming the first Hawk to score four goals in a single game and her eight points recorded is the most since Alesha Pemier totaled seven in 1999. The nine goals scored in a single game was the most in program history, tying the 2019 team which netted the same amount over SUNY Old Westbury and the 2006 team which scored nine over then SUNYAC opponent SUNY Poly.

SUNY New Paltz is back in SUNYAC action Wednesday when it goes on the road to face SUNY Plattsburgh at 4 p.m.
