Oswego, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz returned to SUNYAC play Saturday and remained unbeaten in the conference with a 2-0 win over hosting Oswego State.
The Hawks improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC with the win after another impressive defensive performance to total their fourth shutout on the season. Once again, SUNY New Paltz out-shot the opposition, 13-4, including 12-2 in shots on target while garnering 17 penalty corners to the Lakers' three.
Despite the lopsided statistics, the game remained scoreless until the third quarter when
Miranda Britton scored in the 37th minute on an unassisted score, her seventh of the year.
Meghan Gunning added one last insurance goal in the final two minutes of the game for SUNY New Paltz, scoring off a corner, assisted by Britton and
Rachel Tama.
Britton led the Hawks with four shots, three of which were on goal, while totaling a goal and an assist in the win. Tama and
Angelina Regels followed with two shots apiece with Tama recording her fifth assist on the season.
Gail Comiskey earned her seventh win after totaling two stops in 60 minutes of action.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Tuesday, hosting RPI in a non-conference action on North Turf Field Tuesday for a 4 p.m. start.
