SUNY New Paltz Women's Soccer Ties Geneseo 1-1 on the Road

Geneseo, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz went on the road and earned a 1-1 draw against reining SUNYAC Champions, SUNY Geneseo Saturday.

The Hawks (6-3-2 overall, 2-0-1 SUNYAC) out-shot the Knights 8-6 in the game and held the advantage in shots on target as well, 5-4 with each team garnering three corners.

The game was at a 0-0 stalemate until the 71st minute with Geneseo scoring on an own goal by SUNY New Paltz on an unlucky bounce in the box. The Hawks worked their way back, however, earning a penalty kick in the 85th minute with Gaby Treble stepping up and burying the opportunity for her team.

Alexis DeLeo led the SUNY New Paltz with three shots on goal in 76 minutes of action, followed by Rachel Eisert with two in 39 minutes off the bench. Maddie Franklin had three saves in 90 minutes.

The draw keeps the Hawks atop the SUNYAC standings with Brockport and Cortland each with seven points.

SUNY New Paltz returns home Wednesday facing Potsdam at 4 p.m. on South Turf Field.
