SUNY New Paltz Swim Hosts Union and Kean in Tri-Meet

RESULTS

New Paltz, NY –
 The State University of New York at New Paltz swim program hosted Kean University and Union College in their first home meet of the season. The men's team beat Union 143-112 points. The women fell 174-80 against Union and 207-53 against Kean.
 
The women touched fifth and sixth in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Sage Vadney, Brianna Law, Abigail Keiser and Molly Snyder finished with a time of 2:03.80. Kaylee Gallagher, Naomi Levey, Candela Sandoval and Chloe Jeffares followed close behind touching with a time of 2:05.00.
 
The men earned first and second in the 200-medley relay. Jack Wirth, Alex Gorzula, Steven Macaluso and Jack Samko earned first with a time of 1:38.82. The team of Paul Castner, Xavier Calderon, Hayden Brock and Dylan Nuzzi touched five seconds after at 1:43.38.
 
Abigail Dusseault touched third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:01.22. Diego Burgos and Luke Caroll finished second and third on the men's side of the race. Burgos touched at 11:37.03 followed by Caroll with a 11:45.59.
 
Antonio Vavalle earned second in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.06 after going out in 25.70. Vavalle held mid 28's for the following three 50's.
 
Wirth dominated the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.31, touching 2.24 seconds ahead of second place. Castner earned vital points finishing in third with a time of 58.84.
 
Naomi Levey earned third in the women's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.08. Gorzula earned first in the men's 100 breast, followed by Calderon in third. First place was earned with a 1:02.27. Calderon snagged third with a 1:05.74.
 
Sandoval earned second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:29.21. Hayden Brock earned first with a time of 2:09.69. Dylan Nuzzi snagged second with a time of 2:11.98 and Samuel Debbie earned fourth with a time of 2:22.39.
 
Samko and Macaluso earned second and third in the 50 free. Samko touched at 22.58, followed by Macaluso with a 22.94. Samko earned third in the 100 free with a time of 50.69, followed by Nuzzi with a time of 52.76.
 
Castner took first in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.45, keeping each split at 35.00 or lower. Burgos earned third with a time of 2:18.63.
 
Gorzula touched first in the 200-breast with a time of 2:21.02, going out in 31.79. Calderon snagged third with a time of 2:29.16.
 
 
Dusseault touched second in the women's 500 free keeping all of her splits under 36 seconds, touching with a time of 5:47.81. Sophia Bucci placed fifth with a time of 6:17.84. Vavalle earned first in the men's 500 free with a time of 5:06.18 staying well under 32.00 in each leg. Carroll earned third with a time of 5:42.11.
 
Sandoval earned fourth in the women's 100 fly with a time of 1:08.11. Macaluso earned second in the men's 100 fly with a time of 55.23, followed by Brock with a 56.68 in third.
 
Wirth earned first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.22.
 
The women finished in fifth and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Kieser, Levey, Snyder and Law finished fifth with a time of 1:53.47. Followed by Jeffares, Erin Donovan, Sandoval and Vadney in sixth with a time of 1:54.97.
 
The Hawks and Union battled for first in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Castner, Wirth, Gorzula and Vavalle touched second, with a time of 1:30.92, less than seconds of Unions 1:30.29. 
 
The Hawks will host Adelphi in their annual Green Out Game Nov. 1 at 4pm.
