Syracuse, NY - The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball program swept the weekly awards. Jamie Albrecht won offensive volleyball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Lexi Stragalas joined Albrecht, earning defensive athlete of the week.
Albrecht led the Hawks offensively through two SUNYAC wins on the weekend.
She totaled a game-high12 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Canton Friday, hitting .241 with an ace, four total blocks and a team-leading 15.5 points, averaging more than five points per set.
In a comeback five-set victory over Oswego Saturday, the senior showed out on Senior Day, totaling another game-high of 18 kills, hitting an efficient .447 with an assist, an ace, four total blocks and 13 digs to galvanize the Hawks in the win.
Stragalas set a career-high for blocks in a come-from-behind five-set win over Oswego Saturday, posting eight total blocks, three solo, five assists, while adding four digs with nine kills to total 14.5 points.
Three of her blocks came in a deciding fifth-set as she shifted momentum all the way toward the Hawks in the win. She posted a game-high seven blocks in a three-set win over Canton Friday, averaging nearly three blocks per set as the 6'0 middle added five digs with six kills and a total of 10 points in the victory.
The Hawks look to pick up another set of conference wins this weekend when they head up to north country to face Plattsburgh and Potsdam.
