New Paltz, NY — For the second straight season, State University of New York New Paltz graduate student
Brianna Fitzgerald was named a D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America, as she landed on the first team after a second team selection last fall.
Fitzgerald, who returned for a fifth year this winter, is coming off the best season in program history. She set a single-season program record for points and became the team's all-time points leader in just three seasons, while leading her team in nearly every statistical category. The Island Trees alum became a two-time SUNYAC Player of the Year, a Jostens Trophy Finalist, was named as a D3Hoops Most Outstanding Player to go along with D3Hoops.com first-team All-Region honors and was awarded an All-American WBCA honorable mention nod after leading the Hawks to a SUNYAC title and their fifth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
D3Hoops.com officially released its 2024-25 Women's Basketball Preseason All-America teams Thursday. There were 25 players selected nationally among five teams with Fitzgerald just one of five players to earn first-team honors. She joined Bowdoin's Sydney Jones, Ohio Wesleyan's Kasey Schipfer, NYU's Natalie Bruns and Washington & Lee's Mary Schleusner.
