Ewing, NJ — The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team was on the road for their first match of the spring semester. Today's matches were played indoors at the TCNJ Rec Center due to the weather. The Hawks fell to the Lions of the College of New Jersey 0-9.
"A very tough first match of the spring season had us compete against a very strong ranked TCNJ team. We completed well in doubles with our #2 doubles team of Onalee Batcheller and Isabel van der Veen pushing TCNJ all the way before coming up short losing 8-6. It was a tough match up in singles but #4 Tatiana Barnett and freshman Olivia Kunz playing #6 singles both pushed their opponents to close set matches going down 5-7 in a set. Playing very strong opposition like TCNJ will only help us prepare for a tough spring season including our conference semifinals match vs Oneonta. We head out in the morning to fly to Orlando to complete with teams across the country.," said Coach Rob Bruley.
The Hawks will continue their spring season on March 25 against Whitworth University in Orlando, FL. The Hawks will play a series of three matches over the course of spring break in Orlando, FL.
