SUNY New Paltz Swimming Releases 2024-2025 Schedule

New Paltz, NY —The State University of New York at New Paltz men's and women's swimming teams released their 2024-25 schedule Friday.

Third year coach Nolan Graziano's men's and women's teams will tackle five road events, while hosting three, possibly four, home meets. This season's version of Hawks swimming will look to improve upon both their dual meet record as well as their final standings in the SUNYAC Championships.

SUNY New Paltz open its season Saturday, Oct. 12 when it travels to Cortland to take part in the annual SUNY Cortland Pumpkin Relays. At last season's tune-up meet, the Hawks finished second among four teams on the men's side while the women finished third of four teams.

The season begins in earnest Oct. 26 when SUNY New Paltz hosts a tri-meet against Union College and Kean University. Last season both the Hawks men and women lost to the Garnet Chargers 125-96 and 144-82, respectively. Overall, the Hawks hold a 7-3-1 edge over the Union men while the women are 0-2 in the series. The women will be swimming against both Union and Kean, as Kean does not field a men's swim team. This will be the first meeting between the Cougars and SUNY New Paltz. The Kean women were 8-2 last season with a fifth-place finish in the NJAC Championship.

Home again at Elting Pool Nov. 1, the Hawks will host Division II Adelphi University. In 2023-24 the Panthers men's team posted a fine 10-1 record, including a win over DI Manhattan College and a third-place finish in the Northeast 10 championship meet. The Adelphi women were 8-2 a season ago, with wins over DI Manhattan and St. Peter's, finishing sixth in the NE 10 meet. Last season, both sides for the Hawks were downed by the Panthers 92-30 and 81-41, respectively. The series mark between the SUNY New Paltz and Adelphi men stands at 2-2, while the Hawks hold a 3-1 series record on the women's side.

Nov. 16 sees SUNY New Paltz travel to Saratoga Springs to visit the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College. Skidmore's men posted a 7-1 record and fifth place finish in the Liberty League championship meet, while the Skidmore women finished 6-2, also with a fifth-place finish in the Liberty League meet. A year ago, the Thoroughbreds defeated both the SUNY New Paltz men, 109-96 and women, 147-58.

The following weekend, Dec. 22-24, the Hawks visit Ewing Township, NJ to take part in the 15th annual TCNJ Lion Invitational. Last season, the men and women each placed fourth among five teams.

SUNY New Paltz opens the 2025 schedule travelling Jan. 11 to SUNY Cortland for a dual meet against the Red Dragons. Cortland's men's and women's teams both scored 4-3 season records, and both finished second among eight teams in the SUNYAC Championship. Last season saw the Hawks go down to defeat on both the men's and women's sides, 113-149 and 102-152, respectively.

A week later, SUNY New Paltz returns home to Elting Pool for its final home meet, hosting Ramapo College of New Jersey. The last time the two squads met was in the 2018-19 season, with the Roadrunners coming away with a 101-156 win over the Hawk men and dropping a 142-116 decision to the Hawk women. Ramapo holds a 7-1 overall series mark over the New Paltz men, while the New Paltz women are 8-0 overall against Ramapo. In 2023-24, the Roadrunner men finished 2-6 with an eighth-place finish in the NJAC meet and the women finished with a 3-7 mark and a ninth place finish in the NJAC meet.

The Hawks final regular season meet is on the road at Catskill Cup rival SUNY Oneonta Feb. 1. The Red Dragons men and women both fell to the Hawks a year ago, 116-86 and 111-90. The Oneonta men ended with a 2-5 record and fourth place in the SUNYAC Championships; the Red Dragon women were 0-7 with a sixth-place finish in the conference championships. SUNY New Paltz holds a 23-3 series lead on the men's side over Oneonta, while the women are 28-0 against Oneonta.

February 19-22 will find both teams heading to the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo. There the men will be swimming in the 61st annual SUNYAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, while the women will be taking part in the 40th edition of the SUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. A year ago, the men finished a strong third among eight teams, with the women placing fifth among eight teams.

The 2024-25 NCAA DIII Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held March 19-22 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
