New Paltz, NY — The winning streak continued for the State University of New York New Paltz Wednesday afternoon on North Turf Field.
In a dominant performance over visiting Skidmore College, the No. 23 nationally ranked Hawks collected their fourth straight win with a 3-0 shutout thanks to a hat-trick from junior forward
Miranda Britton.
SUNY New Paltz remained undefeated at 4-0 with the victory, as Britton tallied her first three-goal game of the season — her last also coming against Skidmore — all stemming from penalty corner opportunities as the Hawks continued capitalizing on the set piece.
The offense stayed hot following an exciting 3-2 double overtime victory over No. 17 Ithaca Saturday. Returning to North Turf four days later, they compiled 20 corners in the game compared to the Thoroughbred's seven, while out-shooting their opposition, 20-2 in the contest.
The first goal came in the 13th minute after SUNY New Paltz earned back-to-back corners. Britton inserted to
Hannah Ackerman who fired a shot toward cage that was re-directed by
Amanda Quenneville before Britton got the final tap in to push her team ahead, 1-0. Britton then found her second of the day 10 minutes later in the middle of the second period, also started from a penalty corner. Britton played the ball in to Ackerman who sent a pass to
Rachel Tama who got a shot on target but was initially saved by Skidmore goalie Victoria Bodnar. Britton was there on the follow near the front post and doubled her team's advantage.

The Hawks kept the Thoroughbreds on their heels in the second half, but didn't find another goal until two minutes left in the game. After holding Skidmore without an attempt on cage following a yellow given to Britton, the Hawks got the ball down field immediately after the card was released and earned another corner. Ackerman got a shot on net that was saved by Bodnar, however they didn't let the visitors clear their 25 and in turn, earned another corner. Consecutive corners ensued with Britton again capitalizing with Quenneville there for her second assist of the day.
Tama led the team with 10 shots, seven on goal. Ackerman followed with five while Britton had three, all goals. Comiskey played the full 60 minutes and made one stop on two shots faced.
SUNY New Paltz is back in action Saturday, going on the road to face Endicott College at 1 p.m.
