The Bengals (7-5-4) were first to get on the board. In the seventh minute, after two consecutive offside calls, Buffalo State broke through SUNY New Paltz's backline. Bengals forward Emily Maczka carried the ball to the top of the sixteen-yard box before firing a low shot to the back of the net to earn an early 1-0 lead.
The Hawks' offense could not produce enough opportunities to counter the goal, only putting up five more shots on net in the time remaining. Buffalo State's offense did not fare better, only shooting one attempt on net before halftime. However, the Bengals ended the first with the advantage, 1-0. '

Not long into the second, SUNY New Paltz got the opportunity they needed. After an errant clear by Buffalo State's goalkeeper, Weiner corralled the loose ball and struck it toward frame. The Bengals keeper got her hands on the attempt, but the ball got through her grasp and trickled into the net. The goal evened the score 1-1 in the 53rd minute.
The match finished in a draw, 1-1, in the 70th minute as regulation ended early due to an injury on the field.
SUNY New Paltz returns to South Turf on Oct. 22 to face the Oneonta Red Dragons. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
