Meghan Gunning. Gunning drove inside and sent a ball in toward senior
Miranda Britton who got a tip on the shot re-directing into cage for the game's opening goal.
SUNY New Paltz managed a penalty kill to end the second quarter and into the third, but Oneonta still found the equalizer in the period, as the Red Dragon's Marissa Stephan scored her first of the year, dribbling endline before placing a shot past SUNY New Paltz's
Gail Comiskey for the score.
The Hawks killed another penalty shortly after as
Elizabeth Austin was hit with a yellow card with the two teams going into the fourth tied at 1-1. SUNY New Paltz controlled the fourth, totaling seven shots in the final quarter including three straight stemmed off a corner with 10 minutes to go. Tama then found the back of the net, scoring off an assist from Gunning to push her team ahead in the 53rd minute.
The Hawks stymied another man-up opportunity for the Red Dragons as Britton was handed a green card, but as soon as the Sayville, NY native stepped back onto the field she immediately helped her team to an insurance goal. Austin worked the ball into the circle, beating her man to the end line and forcing a corner as she found a foot of a defender. Britton played the ensuing corner into Tama who pushed a pass to Austin who ripped a shot toward goal. Britton got her stick to re-direct the shot past Oneonta and into the goal for her eighth of the year.
SUNY New Paltz out-shot the Red Dragons, 30-4, in the game including 23-4 in shots on goal with the Hawks totaling eight corners to Oneonta's four.
