Orlando, FL – The State University of New York at New Paltz won their first match of their spring training trip Wednesday against The College of Saint Benedict. The Hawks beat the Ravens 5-2 and improve to an overall record of 8-2.
Doubles: Justine Stanejko and
Isabel van der Veen won their second doubles match of the trip in a 6-2 set.
Sydney Sladicka and
Angelica Gabriel played second doubles and won their second match in Florida 6-4.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone fell to the Ravens 6-4.
Singles: Stanejko earned her third singles win of the trip. Stanejko won both sets 6-1. Sladicka also won both of her sets Wednesday 6-3, earning the match.
Alston won her first set 6-3 and her second 6-4, earning the win. Kunz also won her match, going 7-5 in the first set and 6-2 in the second.
Gabriel battled, falling 6-4 in her first set and 6-2 in the second, losing the match.
Olivia Grabowski also went head-to-head with a Raven winning her first set 6-1. Grabowski fell 6-3 in her second set and fell 10-8 in the tie breaker.
The Hawks look to end their trip down south with another win, Thursday against Crown College at 9a.m. at Oak Street Community Park.
