Box Score Orlando, FL – The State University of New York at New Paltz won their final match in Florida Thursday against Crown College. The Hawks beat the Polar Bears in a 7-0 sweep and improve to an overall record of 9-2.

"Our team always enjoys our annual spring break trip to Florida!" said senior captain
Isabel van der Veen. "It gives us such a great opportunity to get our spring season started since it's hard for us to practice in the beginning due to the weather! This year's trip was great, we had amazing weather every day and came away with some good wins!"
Van der Veen thinks that "this trip always makes us eager to come home and play some strong matches on our courts and helps us prepare for SUNYACS at the end of April. I'm super excited to see what great things this team can achieve during our spring season and am looking forward to one last ride with them!"
Doubles: Sydney Sladicka and
Angelica Gabriel played first doubles and won their third match in Florida 6-1.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone played second doubles winning their match 6-1 as well.
Alyssa Trokie and
Olivia Eifert played third doubles, also beating their pair in a 6-1 set.
Singles: Justine Stanejko went undefeated on the trip, earning her fourth win this week. Stanejko won her first set in a swift 6-1, and her second 6-0. Sladicka also won both of her sets Thursday 6-1 and 6-0.

Amirah Alston swept both of her sets 6-0, earning the win. Kunz also won her match, going 6-0 in the first set and 6-2 in the second.
Olivia Grabowski won her first set 6-2 and her second 6-0.
Laina Martinez joined the line up winning her first set 6-2. Martinez fell 3-6 in the second and battled back in the tie breaker, winning the match with a third set of 10-5.
Coach
Rob Bruley felt that "it was a very successful spring break. We got a lot out of some very competitive matches which we hope will set us up for a very successful season both in doubles and singles. I was very pleased with how all the team competed."
The Hawks will fly north back to New Paltz to host Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday March 29
th for their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
