New Paltz, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday afternoon 7-0.
Doubles: Justine Stanejko and
Isabel van der Veen fell in their doubles match 6-3.
Sydney Sladicka and
Angelica Gabriel fell in their match 6-2.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone also fell to the Spartans 6-1.
Singles: Stanejko ended her undefeated streak in singles this spring falling 6-4 in her first set. Stanejko battled back in the second but came up short falling 7-6. Sladicka fell in her first set 7-6 and then 6-2 in her second. Van der Veen fell 6-1 in her first set and 6-3 in her second.

Amirah Alston also fell 6-1 in her first set and then 6-0 in her second. Kunz fell 6-1 in both of her sets, losing the match.
Olivia Grabowski played sixth singles for the Hawks and also fell 6-1 in both her matches.
"Although we lost 0-7 we played really well against an all international Div II teams" Said Coach Rob Burley. "Singles highlights were Just and Syd in close tie breakers. Playing strong opposition like this will only make us more competitive as the spring season rolls on."
The Hawks will head on the road next weekend for the Drew University Tournament in Madison, New Jersey on Sunday.

SUNY New Paltz Tennis Drops First Match in Florida Against Trinity College
