Box Score Madison, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz tennis program split the day going 1-1 in their matches on Sunday. The Hawks beat Drew University 6-1 and fell to The College of New Jersey 7-0.
Game One Doubles: Justine Stanejko and
Isabel van der Veen won their set 6-4.
Sydney Sladicka and
Angelica Gabriel fell in their match 6-4.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone won their first doubles match 7-5.
Game One Singles: Stanejko won her first singles match of the day 8-5. Sladicka won her match 8-4 and van der Veen won hers 8-2.
Amirah Alston fell 8-3 in her match. Kunz won her match 82 and Gabriel won hers 8-1.
Game One Doubles: Stanejko and van der Veen fell in their set 7-6. Sladicka and Gabriel fell in their match 6-4.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone fell 6-3 in their second doubles match of the day.
Game One Singles: Stanejko fell 8-3 in her second singles match of the day. Sladicka fell in her match 8-4.
Van der Veen and Alston both fell in their second singles matches 8-0. Kunz battled in her match but fell in a close 8-7. Gabriel fell 8-4 in the final singles match of the day.
"Threat day of tennis really saw us challenged in both matches" said Coach Rob Burley. "This level of play is going to help us down the road as the season moves to SUNYAC championship play."
The Hawks will return home to host the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday.
