Cortland, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz earned a 7-0 sweep over the Cortland Red Dragons Friday to open their conference weekend.
"A very strong performance from both our doubles and singles lineup" said SUNY New Paltz coach
Rob Bruley. "Saw us comfortably beat Cortland 7-0."
Doubles: The Hawks swept doubles for the second time this season in conference play. The dynamic duo of
Justine Stanejko and
Sam Ostrander won their match 6-1.
Patrycja Filonik and
Olivia Kunz won their match 6-2 and
Nina Genzone and
Angelica Gabriel dominated 6-1.
Singles: The Hawks we're on a roll with six 6-0 sets, earning three matches without letting up a point. Ostrander, Filonik and
Sydney Sladicka won their matches 6-0 playing both outstanding offense and defense.
Stanejko won her first set 6-2 and her second 6-0, adding another win to the board.
Lula Brown-Vann won her first set 6-2 and her second 6-0 as well.
Alex Krol won the final match of the day for the Hawks going 6-1, 6-0.
The Hawks will stay in Cortland, New York and take on the Fredonia State Blue Devils Saturday afternoon at 1.pm.
