Buffalo, NY – The
SUNY New
Paltz Swim program competed in the fourth and final day of the
SUNYAC Championship in Buffalo. The teams competed in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 3-meter diving, and the 400-freestyle relay.
Antonio Vavalle placed fifth in the men's 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:50.18, keeping all his 50 splits under 32 seconds. Vavalle picked up 14 points for the Hawks with the top eight finish.
Sophia Bucci earned 10
th in the women's 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:02.72. Bucci earned 7 points for the women's team.
Kiara Walsh cracked top 16, placing 15
th earning 2 points with a time of 21:12.74.
Mickey Leach placed 15
th in the men's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.33, earning 2 points.
Jayme Fink touched 12
th in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:23.80 and collected 5 points.
Alexis Egbert touched fifth in the women's 100-yard free, collecting 14 points with a 56.14 finish.
Brianna Law earned 14
th place with a time of 59.64, earning 3 points.
Alex Gorzula joins the podium for the third night in a row, earning silver in the men's 200-yard breaststroke. Gorzula finished with a time of 2:05.02 and added 17 points to the men's score.
Deniz Gurcan touched 10
th with a time of 2:19.04, earning 7 points for the Hawks.
Erin Donovan touched 10
th, earning 10 points with a time of 2:38.01 in the women's 200-yard breaststroke.
Jack Samko earned 15 points for the men after finishing fourth in the men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.99.
Hayden Brock (2:06.29) touched 10
th earning 7 points while
Dylan Esposito (2:22.93) touched 16
th earning a point.
Athena Sage (2:43.88) and
Madeleine Tothero (2:44.00) touched 13
th and 14
th in the women's 200-yard butterfly, earning a combined 7 points for the women.
The men's team of
Gorzula,
Brock,
Samko and Vavalle touched fifth in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:12.14, earning 28 points.
The women's team of Bucci, Law, Donovan and Egbert touched fifth with a time of 3:48.65 in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay earning 28 points for the Hawks.
After the final day of the competition the women finished in sixth place with 256 points. The men also finish in sixth place, earning 312 points.
