Poughkeepsie, NY— The State University of New York at New Paltz fell 7-0 too Vassar College Sunday.
"In a matchup against Vassar, a nationally ranked team we played some of our best tennis of the week" says coach
Rob Bruley. "The highlight of the day was at #1 singles where Justine took a highly regional rank play going down in two highly contested tie breakers. We come off a great week of highly competitive tennis in creative shape staying competitive in every match. Hopefully this form will help us as we move into the final quarter of our season finishing up at the NCAA National Championship."
Doubles: Sam Ostrander and
Justine Stanejko played first doubles falling in their match 6-2.
Patrycja Filonik and
Olivia Kunz played second doubles and fell in a 6-2 set as well.
Nina Genzone and
Angelica Gabriel also lost 6-3.
Singles: Stanejko played first singles losing in a close match. She fell 7(17)-6(1) in the first set and battled but fell 7(7)-6(4) in the second set. Ostrander played second singles falling 7(7)-6(2) in the first set and 6-2 in the second.
Sydney Sladicka played third singles falling 6-2 in the first set and 6-0 in the second.
Filonik played fourth singles falling 6-3 in the first set and 4-3 in the second. Krol played fifth singles falling 7-5 and then 6-3. Gabriel fell in her match 6-4 in the first set and 7-5 in the second.
The Hawks head to Purchase, NY to play Manhattanville University at 4:00p.m. on Wednesday.
