NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men's soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the 2026 season Saturday afternoon, putting together another strong offensive performance in a commanding 5-1 victory over Bryant & Stratton College Rochester.
Less than 24 hours after scoring three times in a win over SUNY Delhi, the Hawks' attack erupted for five more, with Owen Joyce, Kieran Weber, Quentin Smith, Ryan Zindler and Riley Tait all finding the back of the net. The victory pushed SUNY New Paltz to 2-0-1 through its opening three contests.
The Hawks wasted little time taking control, striking twice within a 25-second span early in the opening half.
David Lamour helped create the opening tally, finding Joyce at the 7:48 mark for his first goal of the season to put SUNY New Paltz ahead, 1-0.
Just 25 seconds later, Weber doubled the advantage at 8:13, netting his team-leading third goal of the young season. The senior has now found the back of the net in each of SUNY New Paltz's first three games.
The Hawks continued to dictate play after their quick start, keeping Bryant & Stratton from generating much of a response while creating opportunities to extend their lead. Dante Gulla remained active in the attacking third, putting multiple attempts on frame as SUNY New Paltz maintained control of the opening half.
The hosts broke through for a third time just before the break. Weber turned provider on the play, setting up Smith in the 42nd minute for his first goal of his collegiate career, giving the Hawks a commanding 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Just 41 seconds into the second half, Zindler struck for his second goal of the season, quickly stretching the Hawks' advantage to 4-0.
Bryant & Stratton found its lone goal of the afternoon in the 52nd minute to cut into the deficit, but SUNY New Paltz remained firmly in control and eventually answered with a fifth.
The final tally came from a set piece in the 66th minute. Gulla delivered a corner into the box, where Tait came across goal and connected with a header, sending his effort across the keeper and into the net to restore the four-goal cushion at 5-1.
The Hawks controlled the remainder of the afternoon to close out their second victory in as many days and remain unbeaten through the opening three games of the season.
SUNY New Paltz finished with a decisive 14-3 advantage in shots, putting nine attempts on frame while limiting Bryant & Stratton to just two shots on goal. The Hawks also held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Gulla was active throughout his 61 minutes on the field, leading SUNY New Paltz with five shots, three on goal and adding the assist on Tait's second-half header. Weber finished with three points on a goal and an assist, while Lamour also added a helper.
Zachary Bloom played all 90 minutes in goal, making one save to earn his first victory of the season.
Through three games, SUNY New Paltz has poured in 10 goals while remaining unbeaten at 2-0-1. The Hawks scored eight times across their two victories Friday and Saturday, with seven different players finding the back of the net over the two-game stretch.
