Supporting Hawks Men's Volleyball


SUNY New Paltz is committed in continuing to build its perennial national contending men's Hawks celebratevolleyball program. Coming off another National Championship run in 2019 and the experience of head coach Radu Petrus, a two-time National Coach of the Year and assistant coach Tony Bonilla, a two-time National Assistant Coach of the Year, the future of #NPHawks men's volleyball promises to continue to be bright. Program Highlights:
  • 2016 and 2019 NCAA National Champions (first ever Hawks team to claim a national championship)
  • 3x United Volleyball Conference Champions (2014, 2016 and 2019)
  • Six NCAA Tournament Appearances and four-straight from 2014-17
  • AVCA NCAA Division III National Player of the Year (Christian Smith, 2016)
  • 2x AVCA NCAA Division III Newcomer of the Year
  • Eleven different student-athletes recognized for 15 All-American honors, including 2022 recipient Pat Wing.
  • Chris Shanley named UVC Player of the Year in 2022
  • Matt Grace named UVC Player of the Year and Robert Nolan named UVC Libero of the Year in 2021
  • Matt Grace named UVC Co-Player of the Year in 2020, and broke all-time career assist record in 2020.  

Fundraising Goals:
  • To help offset costs of domestic trips to give our student-athletes the ability to compete against the highest level of competition in tournaments across the country.
  • Upgrade in equipment to enhance our student-athlete training experience.
