Nestor joined the SUNY New Paltz Equestrian coaching staff as an assistant during its inaugural season in 2019-2020.
Nestor spent more than 20 years in the equestrian industry riding, coaching and managing facilities and teams. She grew up in North Carolina and successfully competed in the SAPCA Maclay, USEF Hunter Seat Medal, and Junior Hunters at some of the top southern shows, which included the North Carolina State Fair, Aiken Winter Classic, Atlanta Summer Classic, Raleigh Indoors, Tryon Spring Classic and the Charleston Spring Classic.
Nestor graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Centenary College in 2014, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Equine Studies. While attending Centenary University, one of the top IHSA and equine major colleges in the country, she had an active role on its IHSA team where she was the Zone 3 and Region 3 official point keeper.
With the IHSA team, Nestor won the 2012 IHSA Holiday Tournament of Champions in novice fences, along with being a part of the championship winning team. In 2013, she qualified for Zone 3, Region 3 Novice Fences and won the Region 3 Novice Flat Championship, Zone 3 Finales Championship, as well as earning ninth in the Novice Flat at IHSA Nationals.
Since 2014, Nestor has been the barn manager for Meadow Creek Farm, which also is the practice facility of the Hawks varsity equestrian program. At Meadow Creek, Nestor manages 40 horses, assists in teaching lessons of all levels and co-coaches the Meadow Creak’s IEA team. Nestor also remotely manages all logistics (transportation of horses, staff, horse show entries and memberships associated with 60 top show horses) for the prestigious North Run Inc. with Missy Clark and John Brennan.
