Sara Knickerbocker enters her ninth season as an assistant coach for SUNY New Paltz in 2024.
Sara Knickerbocker (Woodward), who competed at SUNY Cortland from 2009-12, has been a vital part of the State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey coaching staff since 2016. In 2021 she was a part of the NFHCA Region III Coaching Staff of the Year — a first for the program.

Knickerbocker was named First-Team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) from 2009-12 in addition to being selected First-Team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Region and First-Team North Atlantic Region in 2009 and 2010 while earning Second-Team North Atlantic Region honors in 2011. Knickerbocker ranks 10th all-time in Red Dragon history with 100 career points (43 goals, 14 assists).

Knickerbocker served as an assistant coach at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa., for the 2013 campaign. During this past spring and summer, Knickerbocker coached in the USA Field Hockey Futures Program and Colleges United Camp.

Hailing from Pine Plains, N.Y., Knickerbocker earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Cortland in 2013.Â
