Scott Goodman

Goodman enters his first year as the assistant coach/goalie coach for the Hawks women's soccer program ahead of the 2025 season under the tutledge of Interim Head Coach Samantha Trimblett.

Goodman brings more than two decades of coaching and leadership experience across multiple levels of the game to SUNY New Paltz. Since January 2022, he has served as Executive Director and Head Coach with the Hudson Valley Athletic Club, a nonprofit program he founded to provide free tuition for underserved youth athletes. In this role, he has overseen every aspect of the club—including player development, fundraising, international training opportunities, and college recruitment support.

Goodman also serves as a Head Coach with the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program, where he helped develop multiple players selected to the National Team. His previous coaching experience includes roles with other high school and youth teams, and the Hampton Roads Mariners, where he combined administrative and technical responsibilities at the professional level. Earlier in his career, he directed the Empire State Games Adirondack Men’s Open Soccer Team to a Bronze Medal in 1999 and helped guide the University at Albany through its transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I men’s soccer.

In addition to coaching, Goodman is a licensed attorney and accomplished educator. He earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where he was an associate member of the Law Review with a concentration in International Law. He completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science, cum laude, at the University at Albany.
He holds multiple coaching licenses and diplomas, including a USSF National C License (with National B pending) and United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1–3 Diplomas. He has also completed advanced coursework with the TOVO Institute in Barcelona. Proficient in Spanish, Goodman continues to combine his legal, academic, and coaching background to develop athletes on and off the field.
