Smith hit at a .524 clip (12 kills and one error in 21 total attempts) in the 14th-ranked Hawks' thrilling five-set UVC victory over the No. 8 Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday at the Hawk Center. Smith helped the team beyond his offensive numbers, too, boasting a .933 service percentage (one service ace and one service error in 15 total attempts), six digs and two total blocks (one solo, one assist). For the season, Smith is hitting .224 and is averaging 1.27 kills per set. New Paltz (10-2, 4-1 UVC), which is tied for second in the UVC's East Division standings, resumes league play on Wednesday, Feb. 22, as it travels to Utica, N.Y., to face SUNYIT at 7 p.m.
