Senior forward Alex McCullough became just the third student-athlete in New Paltz women’s basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point career milestone in Friday’s overtime loss to Oneonta. McCullough drained a three-pointer at the 11:05 mark in the first half to hit the 1,000-point mark. She joins Robin Shields '00 (1,135 points) and Jasmine Sanchez '99 (1,066 points) as the only members of the New Paltz women's basketball team's 1,000-point club. She is also the first women's basketball player to reach this landmark in 13 years. McCullough leads the first-place Hawks with 10.8 points and two blocked shots per game. New Paltz will host the semifinal and final rounds of the 2013 SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament, which will be held from Friday, Feb. 22, to Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Hawk Center. The Hawks await their semifinal opponent, which will be determined after Tuesday night’s quarterfinal contests.
