Scher was the top finisher for the Hawks at Saturday's University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth 8K Invite, placing 13th of 255 runners. The senior co-captain turned in a time of 25:45.7, averaging 5:09.2 a mile. The Hawks' team average time was 26:00, which was the best in school history as three runners finished sub-26:00, also a program first. New Paltz next races at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m.
