WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (18-6, 4-0 SUNYAC) took host Williams College (12-6, 2-1 NESCAC) to five sets on Wednesday evening in non-conference action, but the Ephs prevailed, 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 28-30, 15-12).

Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, N.Y.) paced the Hawks with 18 kills, while senior middle hitter
Dana Kindelmann (Nesconset, N.Y.) and sophomore right side
Michelle Jacobson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) landed 14 and 12, respectively. Freshman setters
Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and
Brigid Moore (Victor, N.Y.) split the setting duties, handing out 28 and 21 assists, respectively, while four different Hawks contributed 20 or more digs to the team's impressive 115-dig total. Jacobson joined the 30-dig club with 32, while freshman libero
Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), King and DiGiovanna offered 29, 24 and 20, respectively.
The blue and orange also blocked exceptionally well, as Kindelmann led the effort with four block solos and three block assists.
The Hawks take a week off from competition before they entertain cross-river rival Vassar College in their home finale on Wednesday, Oct. 13. First serve is set for 7 p.m. Prior to the start of the contest, New Paltz will honor seniors
