WILKES-BARRE, PA- The New Paltz baseball team pounded out 19 hits and scored 14 runs en route to a 14-4 win over the King's College Monarchs Tuesday evening on Lipo Field. The Hawks improve to 12-6 overall and return to the field Thursday, April 8th against Mount Saint Mary College at 4 p.m. on Loren Campbell Field.
Thomas Pinnola was 4-for-5 with four runs and one RBI and
Clinton Boettcher was 3-for-5 with one run and two RBI for the Hawks.
Joel Judson and
Steve Pinckney were each 2-for-5 from the plate, including four runs and one RBI by Judson and one run and two RBI from Pinckney. Matt O'Neill was 1-for-2 two runs and two RBI and
Philip Parker was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Starter
Timmy Chelius earned his second win on the mound pitching five innings and scattering six hits. He allowed two runs, one earned and struck out three.
Kyle Ochiuzzo pitched a scoreless inning and
Chris Chismar continued his success on the mound, striking out two in two innings of work.
Mike Fignar finished 3-for-4 with one run and Matt Ugner was 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI for King's. The Monarchs fall to 11-7 overall.
Starter Bobby Buttafogo only lasted one and two third innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and walking two batters. Relief pitcher Richie Pruzinsky did not fare well either as he allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and walking two in two thirds of an inning. Bobby Peron finished the final six and two third innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits and striking out two.
