NEW PALTZ, NY- Three pitchers combined to hold Mount Saint Mary College to three hits, while striking out 10 to improve to 13-6 overall and winners of three straight. The Hawks have won six of seven and return to action on Saturday, April 10th at Plattsburgh in a conference doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
The Hawks took the early 2-0 lead on back-to-back RBI groundouts by
Joel Judson and
Clinton Boettcher in the bottom of the first.
Dylan Franco walked to start the inning off and
Thomas Pinnola doubled on the next pitch.
The Blue Knights tied the score in the top of the fourth on a Mike Moosbrugger sacrifice fly and on an error.
The Hawks started to unload on the Blue Knights in the fifth and sixth innings, combining for nine runs in the two innings.
Mike Sherlock doubled to lead the inning off and Franco reached on hit-by-pitch. After an error by the first baseman to load the bases, Boettcher ripped a two-run single down the third base line. The next batter
Steve Pinckney roped a RBI double into the left center gap, scoring Judson from third.
In the sixth, the Hawks brought eight batters to the plate. Judson had a two-run single and Boettcher followed with a two-run double to extend the lead to 8-2. Pinckney added an RBI groundout in the inning to give the Hawks a 11-2 lead.
The Hawks completed the score at 12-2 in the seventh when
Nick Monaco singled home Matt O'Neill from third.
Pinnola finished 2-for-3 with three runs and Judson added one hit with two runs and three RBI for the Hawks. Boettcher matched his career-high with five RBI in game with two hits and two runs scored. Sherlock finished 2-for-3 from the plate and
Alex Donatelli was 1-for-1 after a pinch hit single in the eighth.
Brett Harrison improved to 3-1 on the mound as he pitched a solid five innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and struck out five.
Kyle Ochiuzzo continued to lower his ERA to 0.73 with three innings pitched and striking out three.

Matt Prescia and Paul Cherubino all had one hit for the Blue Knights as they fall 3-16 overall.
Carl Henchey recorded the loss on the mound as he allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits and walked one. Four relievers combined for three and two third innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on four hits.
