NEW PALTZ, NY- The New Paltz women's lacrosse team fell to the Bengals of Buffalo State by a score of 20-5 Friday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC. The Bengals improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Hawks return to the turf tomorrow when they host the Blue Devils of Fredonia, game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
Junior Brittany Bennett and sophomore Samantha DelGaudio both scored two goals a piece. Bennett also recorded two assists for the Hawks. Freshman midfielder Erin Tornatore found the back of the cage for the Hawks collecting her fourth goal of the season.
The Bengals held a slight advantage in shots, 28-13 and in draw controls, 17-10. Both teams tallied 19 ground balls each.
Margaret DeLauter recorded the loss in net, allowing 20 goals and saving three shots in 60:00 minutes of play.
The Bengals were led by Karen Shaddock who scored six goals and had three assists on the day. Nine other Buffalo State players scored at least one goal in the contest.
Ashley O'Brien recorded the win in net, allowing five goals and saving six in the matchup.
