CORTLAND, NY- The fifth seeded Golden Eagles of Brockport scored a run in the sixth inning to defeat the sixth seeded Hawks by the score of 3-2 on Dragon Field. The Hawks finish the season at 20-18 overall and the Golden Eagles improve to 31-11 overall.
The Hawks got on the board first with two runs in the first inning.
Jillian Gallagher led the inning off with a bunt single and would steal second after a strikeout.
Melyssa Cilmi singled to center field as Gallagher advanced to third and Cilmi moved up to second on the play at third. After a stirkeout,
Melissa Liotta had an RBI bunt single that scored Gallagher and Cilmi would score after the second baseman muffed the throw as the Hawks took a 2-0 lead.
Brockport tied it in the third with a two-run home run by Nikki Odrobina that scored Caitlyn Rana from second after she singled to left field to start the inning.
Brockport scored the game-winning run in the sixth when Emily Wagner had a sacrifice fly that scored Hollie Ary from third.
Gallagher went 2-for-3 with one run and
Rose Dovi was 2-for-3 to lead the Hawks from the plate. Cilmi added a hit and a run and Liotta was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Alyssa Oliva pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out four.
